Another week, another day deeper in debt! "Cash - the eternal fork out - To keep everything normal is well beyond the capacity - All monies will try and escape thee - Beware of thy lazy right hand". Oh hell. It’s been a week of crazy work, intense marketing analytics coaching, and much music. I’m in digesting mode – taking in all the records and songs above and absorbing them into the core of my absurd gut and forming opinions. I will comment on one item: “You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb” by Spoon is quickly climbing into a favorite of the year. I will say that I have never been much of a Spoon fan. I appreciate their records, but never felt too compelled to listen. I warmed up slightly when “I Turn My Camera On” from Gimme Fiction became a blip-hit a couple of years ago. “Cherry Bomb” is bloody infectious tense-pop in the vein of the great early 80s Elvis Costello jams. The hook is crafted so so utterly precise, it’s sung with a sly smile-slash-grin, the guitar, drums, and bass launch the gorgeous licks all over the place. Tremendous tune.
